NavGuard® IV - MIL-PRF-81309H Type IV Qualified Advanced Corrosion Prevention Compound
NavGuard IV
MIL-PRF-81309H Type IV Qualified Advanced Corrosion Prevention Compound
Maximum long-term corrosion protection for military, aerospace, marine and industrial assets.
NavGuard® IV is the advanced-performance member of the NavGuard® family, developed for applications where maximum corrosion resistance and extended maintenance intervals are critical.
Developed by the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), NavGuard® IV was designed to provide significantly longer-lasting corrosion protection than conventional corrosion preventive compounds used in naval aviation. Its advanced ultra-thin film technology forms a durable, self-healing protective barrier that actively displaces moisture, protects multiple metal substrates and remains flexible under thermal cycling, vibration and mechanical movement.
Qualified to MIL-PRF-81309H Type IV, NavGuard® IV is intended for corrosion-prone areas where long-term preservation and maximum asset protection are required.
Military Qualification
MIL-PRF-81309H
- M81309-D1 – Type IV, Class 1
- M81309-D2 – Type IV, Class 2

Proven Performance
NavGuard® IV was developed to extend corrosion protection well beyond traditional corrosion preventive compounds.
According to the available technical documentation, field evaluations on U.S. Navy, Army and Marine Corps platforms demonstrated no significant corrosion in treated areas after two years of service, supporting extended inspection intervals and reduced maintenance requirements.
During laboratory qualification testing, NavGuard® IV also exceeded the corrosion resistance requirements of MIL-PRF-81309H, including extended neutral salt spray performance and outstanding protection of aluminium, magnesium and ferrous alloys.
Technical Performance
- Neutral Salt Fog >336 hours (ASTM B117)
- Dielectric strength >28,000 volts
- Functional penetration >90%
- Film thickness approximately 0.5 mil
- Friction coefficient <0.18
- Excellent compatibility with aircraft coatings, acrylics, polycarbonate and wiring insulation
