NavGuard® I is a military-qualified, ultra-thin film Corrosion Prevention Compound (CPC) developed to provide long-lasting corrosion protection in environments where high humidity, salt exposure and biological growth present significant maintenance challenges.

Originally developed for the U.S. Navy, NavGuard® I combines advanced corrosion prevention with a synergistic mildew inhibitor that helps prevent the growth of fungi, mould and mildew within both the wet coating and the cured protective film. This unique combination makes NavGuard® I particularly suitable for enclosed aircraft structures, equipment compartments and other high-humidity environments where corrosion and microbial growth can occur simultaneously.

Its advanced polymeric CPC technology penetrates seams, lap joints and enclosed cavities before forming a durable, ultra-thin protective film that remains flexible throughout its service life without cracking, peeling or becoming brittle. Compared with conventional military-grade corrosion preventive compounds, the extended service life of NavGuard® I helps reduce maintenance intervals, minimise aircraft downtime and lower lifecycle costs.

NavGuard® I was developed in accordance with MIL-PRF-81309H and incorporates advanced polymeric CPC technology designed to provide significantly longer service life than conventional military corrosion preventive compounds.

According to Corrosion Technologies, laboratory testing demonstrated corrosion protection exceeding the minimum requirements of MIL-PRF-81309H, including extended neutral salt spray performance in accordance with ASTM B117. Comparative testing also indicated substantially improved protection of aluminium and steel when evaluated against conventional corrosion preventive compounds.

Developed in accordance with MIL-PRF-81309H, its advanced ultra-thin film technology provides outstanding protection against moisture, salt spray and corrosive environments while maintaining full inspectability of treated components.
Compared with conventional military-grade CPCs, NavGuard® was engineered to extend corrosion protection intervals, helping reduce repeat applications, minimise maintenance downtime and lower total lifecycle costs for aircraft and critical assets.
According to Corrosion Technologies, qualification and comparative testing demonstrated corrosion resistance significantly exceeding the minimum requirements of MIL-PRF-81309H. Laboratory testing in accordance with ASTM B117 showed corrosion protection lasting approximately three times longer than the specification's 14-day neutral salt spray requirement on aluminium test panels. Comparative evaluations also demonstrated substantially improved corrosion protection on aluminium and steel when compared with conventional commercially available corrosion preventive compounds.
Its advanced low-viscosity formulation penetrates deep into seams, lap joints and enclosed cavities before forming a durable, ultra-thin protective film. Once applied, the coating remains flexible and is unaffected by thermal expansion, vibration and mechanical movement. It will not crack, sag, fatigue or peel throughout its service life.
NavGuard® provides outstanding multi-metal corrosion protection for steel, aluminium, magnesium and their alloys, while helping reduce both anodic and cathodic corrosion and slowing the diffusion of corrosive agents into protected surfaces.
The ultra-thin, low-build coating does not attract dust or dirt, adds virtually no measurable weight to aircraft structures and does not interfere with routine inspection or maintenance procedures. The formulation is free from waxes, silicones and heavy metals, features a low VOC content and is safe for use on electrical systems, electronics and avionics.
NavGuard® may be applied during manufacturing, shipment, long-term storage or routine in-service maintenance and can be recoated whenever additional protection is required.
